The Phytochemical Society of Europe, through the generosity of Laboratoires Pierre-Fabre, presented an annual award of €2000 to a young European scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to phytochemistry or plant biochemistry. The award aims to reward an exceptional contribution made in developing the field in which the candidate is working. |

The name of the Pierre-Fabre award winner is announced at the September meeting of the Society and published in the journal Phytochemistry.
All members of the Society are entitled to make nominations for the award, but these must be received by the General Secretary, Dr Wieslaw Oleszek , by 1 February. The selection is made by a sub-committee of the Society comprising the Chairman, a Vice Chairman, an Honorary Secretary and a representative of Laboratoire Pierre-Fabre.

| From 1991 until 1999, and through the generosity of Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, the Phytochemical Society of Europe has been able to make a new award which was presented to a young European investigator who has made an outstanding contribution to phytochemistry during the last five years. The value of the award was £1000 pounds and the recipients were required to present their recent research results in the form of an Award Lecture.

Tate and Lyle Award |

From 1975 to 1990 and through the generosity of Messrs Tate and Lyle Ltd. the Phytochemical Society of Europe was able to make an annual award to the European investigator judged to have made the most significant contribution to phytochemistry during the previous five years. The award was in the form of a cheque and an inscribed silver tray. Recipients were required to present their recent research results in the form of an Award Lecture in conjunction with the Award Ceremony.
